About Dr. Dominic Enang Echeng

Dr. Echeng, Dominic Enang hails from Agbara Ekureku II in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State. He started his primary education in Primary School Agbara-Ekureku in 1970 and had his first school leaving certificate (FSLC) in 1975. In that same year 1975, he was admitted into Agbo comprehensive secondary school, Egboronyi and had his WASC in 1980. In 1981, he proceeded to the University OF Cross River State, Uyo and had his NCE in 1984 in History/Religious studies. He did his National Youth Service in Ondo State between August, 1984 and July, 1985. In 1988, he proceeded to the University of Port-Harcourt and graduated in 1992 with specialization in psychology, Guidance and Counselling /History. He started his masters programme in the University of Calabar and graduated in 2002 specializing in Guidance and Counselling. Thereafter, he went ahead and obtained a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Guidance and Counselling in 2016 from the University of Calabar. Dr. Echeng had served in Cross River State Secondary Education Board as School Counsellor and later School Administrator. He also served as Assistant Registrar Human Resources in the then Ibrahim Babangida College of Agriculture, Ovonum-Obubra. He served for several years as Part Time Lecturer in Elder Oyama College of Education, Ofat-Obubra. Dr. Echeng is currently a lecturer in the Department of Guidance and Counselling, University of Calabar. He transferred his services to the University in 2017 as Lecturer II in the Department of Guidance and Counselling. During this period, he has served as member, Office Furniture Sub-Committee for November, 2017 NUC Accreditation of Guidance and Counselling Programme. He also served and still serving as Academic Adviser to Third Year Students in the Department. He has taught many courses and supervised several students’ projects. Dr. Echeng is a member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and a member of the Counselling Association of Nigeria. He has published some articles in journals and attended some conferences as well. Dr. Echeng is a Christian, socially out-going and likes reading educational and motivational books, watching football, listening to news and meeting people. He is married and the marriage is blessed with children.
