About Dr. Christopher Awam Diminyi

Dr. Diminyi Christopher Awam is a Tourism specialist and a Consultant. He has a wide background in Tourism and Hospitality related areas, with over five years of teaching experience. He started his lecturing career in the Department of Leisure and Tourism Management, Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, where he taught for two years before leaving the polytechnic for further studies. Currently, he is a Lecturer in the Department of Tourism Studies, University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. His research interest is in Tourism Planning and Development, Ecotourism, Cultural Tourism, Tourism Marketing, and Hospitality and Event Management, where he has published considerably in reputable journals. Professionally, Dr. Diminyi is a member of Association for Tourism Development in Nigeria (ATDiN) and Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN). Apart from teaching and research, Dr. Diminyi is the immediate past Departmental secretary and the current secretary to Curriculum Development/upgrading Committee, Secretary to Quality Assurance Committee and Examination Officer, all at Departmental level. He has empowered a number of youths academically and has contributed to many development projects in his community including planning and successful celebration of Bako yam festival. He has also been involved in environmental sensitization programmes where he masterminded the stoppage of indiscriminate bush burning that facilitated tree planting programme in his community.
