Dr. Chidiebere Peter Echieh joined the University of Calabar in 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh) degree from the University of Calabar (2007) and a Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (2018). He was awarded the James Cox Fellowship in Atrial Fibrillation Surgery by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS). He teaches surgery to medical and dental surgery students. He has attended several conferences including the AATS Annual Scientific Conference, Focus on Thoracic Surgery, Palliative Care Conference, Nigerian Thoracic Society, and the Nigerian Cardiac Society. He has presented talks/posters at several conferences across the globe. He participated in organizing the Nigerian Cardiac Society Conference held in Calabar in 2020. He is a reviewer with the Nigerian Journal of Medicine. Dr. Echieh has been involved in several collaborations such as the COVIDSurg Collaborative, and the Stroke and Cardiovascular Research Training. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, European Association for Thoracic Surgery, Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Nigeria, Nigerian Cardiac Society (NCS), and Nigerian Thoracic Society (NTS). He has been involved in several outreaches and has made several publications in reputable journals.
