About Prof. Ajayi Clemency Omoogun

Ajayi Clemency Omoogun is a Professor of Curriculum Studies in the Department of Environmental Education. He was the Head of Department of Environmental Education 2007, Head of Department Curriculum and Teaching (2011-2013), Deputy Dean, Faculty of Education (2016-2018), Member- Governing Board of University of Calabar International Secondary School, Calabar (2011-2013), Financial Secretary, ASUU-UCB Freedom Cooperative Society 2015-Date. He is currently the Head of Department of Environmental Education. He obtained his Bachelor of Science, B.Sc. (Edu.) in Agricultural Science from the University of Calabar, Master in Curriculum Studies from the University of Calabar (1998) and a Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2009. His area of research interest includes environmental education, curriculum and pedagogy, teacher professional development, curriculum & instruction and education for sustainable development. He has successfully supervised many graduate students. Omoogun participated in European Commission Erasmus Mundus Action II staff training on Knowledge Integration and Transfer Education (KITE) mobility programme at Masaryk University Brno, Czech Republic in 2015. Omoogun has participated in many local and international conferences where he made presentations. He has contributed over fifty journal articles spread across local and international journals, books and book chapters. He is a life member of World Council for Curriculum and Instruction (International), Member, World Environmental Education Congress and the Grand Patron of Environmental and Tourism Educators and Researchers Association of Nigeria. His hobbies include self-discovery sessions, gardening, listening to nature and traveling. Omoogun is a veteran unionist and an adherent of self-discovery. He is married to Remi Omoogun and the Union is blessed with children.
