About Dr. Angela Ahowbewon Ajimase

Dr. Angela Ahwobewom Ajimase joined the services of the University of Calabar, Calabar-Nigeria in 2008 as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages and Translation Studies of the University of Calabar, Nigeria.. She progressed steadily through the ranks and was promoted Lecturer I in 2015. She holds B.A. (Hons) degree in French obtained fromthe defunct Cross River State University, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 1992, M.A. degree in Translation studies in French (2003) and a PhD degree in Francophone - Caribbean literature in French (2013) from the University of Calabar, Calabar-Nigeria. She has published extensively in Francophone - Caribbean Literature. Arising from her wide travels within and outside Nigeria, Dr Ajimase has worked with different French academic groups like Nigerian French Language Project and Centre for French Language Teaching and Documentation. , University French Teachers Association of Nigeria, a member of Faculty of Arts Research Committee, Quality Assurance Committee Faculty of Arts, Chair, Finance and Fundraising Subcommittee for FAHSANU (Faculty of Arts/Humanities Scholars Association of Nigerian Universities), Member, Committee on Student Life and Relations, Faculty of Arts Representative in the Medical College etc. . She also worked with communities and Non-Governmental Organizations on gender based issues: Cross River State Consultative Forum on Child Rights Bill 2004. Independent Corrupt Practices & Other Related Offences (ICPC) ,Anti – Corruption& Transparency Support Initiative (ACTSI) 2017, Action Health Sustenance (ASH) 2010 -2013, Election Monitoring Matters 2013-2015, Issues on Justice for All(J4A DFID) 2015,Media Rights Agenda( Freedom of Information Act and the issues on African Media Barometer 2013-2015). She has worked as a Departmental Student Staff Adviser 2013-2015, Examination officer 2015-2017 and she is currently Deputy Director, Research in the Directorate of Research & Quality Assurance, University of Calabar, and Calabar-Nigeria.
