VC APPOINTS PROF SYLVESTER ABANG AS CHAIRMAN OF ACTU
The Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi has approved the appointment of Professor Sylvester Abang as the new Chairman of the Anti-Corruption & Transparency Monitoring Unit (ACTU), University of Calabar. He takes over from Prof Louisa Uwatt.
Other members of the 10-man committee include Prof Kyrian Ojong (Philosophy Dept), Prof Timothy Awolabi (Botany), Rev Fr Emmanuel Duke (Philosophy), Dr Eunice Ajuluchukwu, Prof Eno Nta (Eng & Lit Stud), Prof Theresa Ekanem (Anatomy), Barr Rowland Ipuole (Faculty of Law), a representative of ICPC and the secretary of the committee, Dr Citizen Ekpo.
The Terms of reference of the committee include the investigation of cases of corruption and financial irregularities referred to the committee and recommendations to management; embarking on enlightenment programmes from time to time on the negative effects of corrupt practices on individuals, the university and society at large and execution of any assignment that may be referred to the committee from time to time.
