The Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi has said that the Alumni is one major critical segment of the university community.

Prof. Florence Obi stated this when members of the University of Calabar Theatre Arts Alumni (UCTAA) paid a courtesy call on her recently.

Speaking during the event which was held at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, the Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Michael Okom commended the Alumni for their interest in the affairs and growth of their Alma Mater.

She restated her administration’s commitment towards repositioning and creating a vibrant alumni regime, adding that a cordial relationship between the alumni and the university management will bring about meaningful development to the institution.

The Vice Chancellor also described the Department of Theatre Arts as one that the University of Calabar is proud of, especially, for always representing and lifting the name of the university to the front burner.

The Chairman of the University of Calabar Theatre Arts Alumni (UCTAA) Mrs. Affiong Effiom who spoke on behalf of the team said, the aim of their visit is to felicitate with her on her historical appointment as the first female Vice Chancellor of the university.

Mrs. Affiong who affirmed that the alumni will continue to show support to the administration also said that the alumni is open to collaborations with the University Management.

Highlight of the visit was presentation of gift to the Vice Chancellor, as well as a trumpet and a guitar for use by the University of Calabar Performing Company (UCPC).
