The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi has commended the recently set up COVID-19 Taskforce Team of the institution for taking pragmatic steps to actualize the good intentions of her administration.

The Vice Chancellor said this when the Chairman of the Taskforce, Dr Kingsley Akaba led some members of his committee to brief her on progress so far made since its formation.

Professor Florence Obi lauded the effort expended in the draft report as well as the successful mobilization effort of some in the private sector to key into the initiative at a time when sufficient funds was a serious challenge.

Prof Obi showered exceptional praise on a volunteer, Mr Andrew Onukansi who came with the COVID 19 Team for voluntarily deciding to fumigate the administrative block of the institution as well as the Vice Chancellor’s lodge at no cost to the university.

In an earlier address, the Chairman of the Taskforce, Dr Kingsley Akaba said he came to brief the Vice Chancellor on the progress made and also provide update on the entire operations.

Others who accompanied the Chairman in the visit include Dr Paul Odey, Mr Patrick Ogar, and Mr Robert Omang (Secretary).
