Unical Promotes "Orator" of the Nigerian Senate, others to Rank of Professor
The University of Calabar Senate has approved the promotion of Senator Sandy Ojang Onor to the rank of full professor. Also promoted to the rank of professor is James Bassey Ejue, Provost of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State.
The announcement of their promotion was made by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Zana Akpagu, at the 218th Senate of the institution, on Thursday, 31st October, 2019.
Prof. Sandy Onor, a 1987 graduate of the department of History of Unical, currently serves as Senator representing Central Senatorial District of Cross River State. He was the first elected Chairman of Etung Local Government Council and former Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission. As Chairman of Etung, he was elected into Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, as National Deputy Chairman. Prof. Onor, who has been crowned the "Orator" of the 9th Senate, has authored three books, co-authored one other and published 24 well researched journal articles in reputable local and foreign journals.
Prof. James Bassey Ejue, the current Provost of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, was, prior to his appointment, a staff of the Cross River University of Technology. Also an alumnus of the University of Calabar, Prof. Ejue was a former Provost of Cross River State College of Education, Akamkpa. He has over 50 scholarly publications to his credit and standard text books.
