HOD's Welcome Message

I welcome all new students to the Department of Radiography & Radiological Science and the University of Calabar (UNICAL). In the same spirit, I congratulate all returning students for moving one step higher on the ladder of success. I hereby convey my wishes and prayers for a very successful stay on campus for every one of you.
It is not sufficient to gain admission to study Radiography or Medical Imaging as it is known in some places. The challenge lies in breaking up the storms that line the part to glory and claiming the crown of a good Degree. Assuredly, there are countless job opportunities available at home and abroad, but the juiciest portions are always given to the very best in the field. That is why there exist only one sound advice that every student and would-be Radiographer must adopt as a personal philosophy, and that is to work hard and stay focused.
The B.Sc. Radiography programme is a heavy course in terms of the academic content and demands. Apart from passing all courses, you are expected to do well in the Clinical component to successfully meet the requirements for professional registration and licensing. Attendance is therefore of utmost importance in all areas of your training (lectures, laboratory postings, clinical posting, etc.). Sometimes, your clinical postings would-be out of your comfort zone, you are therefore expected to satisfy all requirements to qualify for graduation. There is absolutely no room for laziness, sorting, cultism and every manner of unproductive endeavour.
You are expected to use all available human and material facilities to enhance your chances of leaving the shores of UNICAL with a good Degree.
I wish you all the very best, and once again welcome you to the Department of Radiography & Radiological Science, University of Calabar.
