Welcome Message from The Head of Department- Orthopaedics And Traumatology
Welcome to the Department of Orthopaedic and Traumatology, where future leaders are nurtured. The Department was established with a vision to serve the society by teaching and training medical students, specialist doctors and ancillary staffs as well as rendering specialist Orthopaedic services. We have foreign collaboration with Surgical Implant Generation Network & Ponseti International Association. Our teams of Specialists are willing to share their experience and expertise which would help in making our department more visible in this part of world. We have data base in clubfoot, interlocking nail fixation of long bones (SPSS format), mixed pathology (hard copy) and dissertations written by our trainees, we are open to data sharing and multicenter research collaborations. We have facilities for exchange program and foreign Orthopedic surgeons cum residents who which to have the African experience. We also engage in social activities like yearly celebration of Orthopaedic week and departmental end of year party to honor our retirees and give prices to deserving members of staff. I want to acknowledge the efforts of those who laid the foundation of Orthopaedic in this institution; Prof. Onuba (rtd), Dr Oscar Umoh (late) and Dr Larry Bassey (late). I use this opportunity to recognize and thank my predecessors for their relentless effort to move the department forward; Prof. Udosen, Prof. Ngim and Prof. Ikpeme. You are welcomed to the future.
