The Department of Library and Information Science is passionate about making a positive change in the world, in terms of bridging the gaps that exist between people, information and technology. Professionally, we work to design and develop knowledge based systems and services, create reader’s advisory resources to encourage young students to develop and sustain lifelong learning. Additionally, we help scholars locate research resources crucial to their work as well as enable quick access to relevant information by other information seekers. To this end, the Department of Library and Information Science prepares students to be competent and productive librarians. It satisfies the need for persons with educational qualifications required to administer libraries and information centres in tertiary institutions as well as serve in government ministries, public agencies, businesses, industries and the private sectors, thus contributing to economic growth and social developments.
