Welcome Message from The Head of Department- Electrical And Electronics Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Calabar, Nigeria welcomes you to our web portal. The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a proud member of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology family, started in the 2016/2017 academic year with six other Departments approved for take-off in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Our young and energetic Department is an emerging centre for excellent and quality teaching, research and other services, and we are very proud of its huge achievements in the short time of its existence. All activities in the Faculty and engineering programs are closely monitored and regulated by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria and the National Universities Commission.
The Department offers courses that lead to the award of an undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It boasts of a well-ordered course curriculum that has been packaged to abundantly expose students to both theoretical and practical knowledge in all aspects of electrical and electronic engineering technology. Students are taught using modern teaching and learning facilities Our nascent Electrical and Electronic Engineering undergraduate program offers students the opportunity to acquire well-developed background knowledge, strong engineering, and entrepreneurial skills and consequently, develop an enriching experience that will enable them to be outstanding in their various places of assignments after graduating from the University. The University has assembled a committed team of academic staff with several years of both teaching and practical experiences in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The teaching staff members are supported by another team of administrative and technical staff who are always ready to help students feel at home.
We encourage you to spend time going through our web pages and learn more about our programs and activities. Given our deep commitment to improve and finetune our program, we request that if you have any feedback, suggestions, comments, and/or questions, kindly send them to us using any of our contact channels.
We hope that you will find the site helpful and enjoyable.
Thank you for visiting.

Mission / Vision / Philosophy / Objective
The Department aspires to provide an enabling environment for effective research, teaching and training of Electrical and Electronic Engineers who are knowledgeable in the field and can perform credibly anywhere in the world; Engineers with competence in entrepreneurship and who can contribute meaningfully to national development.
The vision of the department is to train competent Electrical and Electronic Engineers with easily identifiable expertise in one of these areas:
1. Computers and Control Option
2. Communication and Electronics Option
3. Power and Machines Option
To achieve the national goals and objectives of industrialization and self-reliance, the Engineering and Technology education is geared towards:
(i) The development of a thorough practice in training
(ii) Early broad–based training in general Engineering and
(iii) Practical application of Engineering, Technology and Manufacturing Processes.
(iv) Adequate training in human and organizational behaviour
(v) Introduction to entrepreneurial education and training
(vi) Close association of the programme with industries in the country.
The general philosophy therefore is to produce graduates with high academic standard and adequate practical background for self-employment as well as being of immediate value to industry and the community in general.
The general aims and objectives of Engineering and Technology training are in consonance with the realization of national needs and aspirations vis-à-vis industrial development and technological emancipation. The National Universities Commission (NUC) benchmark statements give the minimum academic standards required to meet these needs and to produce graduates in Engineering and Technology with sufficient academic background and practical experience who would be able to rise to the challenges of a developing economy. Such graduates must therefore be resourceful, creative, knowledgeable and able to perform the following functions on graduation
The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Calabar, started in the 2016/2017 academic year. It took off along with six other departments when the Faculty of Engineering and Technology was established in the University. It was temporarily accommodated in the Department of Physics pending the completion of the Engineering Complex that was then under construction. The Department has since moved into the permanent site and is now operating from there.
