Profile of The Pro-Chancellor

An industrial Designer, technologist, Chemist, Farmer, Consultant and Administrator. These various designations underline and aptly describe the new pro-Chancellor and chairman of Council, University of Calabar, Dr. Roland Ekhator Ehigiamusoe.
Born 65 years ago in Evboyare village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, Dr. Ehigiamusoe attended Immaculate Conception College, (ICC) Benin city between 1957 and 1961 and St. Patrick’s College Asaba 1963-1964 where he obtained his Higher School Certificate (HSC).
After his secondary education, Dr. Roland Ehigiamusoe proceeded to University of Ibadan where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Chemistry in 1969. Not contented with his academic attainment, he left the shores of this country to Manchester University, United kingdom where he obtained a Master of Science degree in Chemical Technology. His academic effort was crowned with a Ph.D. in Industrial Cell Design in 1975.
A highly diligent fellow with a clear vision, focus and direction in life as seen in his working career. Dr. Ehigiamusoe, a father of four children began his working career with Edokpolor Grammer School where he became Head of Science from 1969-1970. from 1972, 1976, he rose to the position of Administrative Research Officer on Industrial Matters in the Military Governor’s office of the Bendel State Government.
In 1976, Dr. Roland Ehigiamusoe took up the challenge of lecturing at university of Benin. This appointment was followed with subsequent ones at managerial positions as Acting and General Manager of the then Bendel Soap Factory and Bendel Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
