About Dr. Cecilia Kori Essien

Dr. (Mrs) Cecilia Kori Essien joined University of Calabar in 1998 as Graduate Assistant. She holds National Certificate in Education in Religious/Social Studies obtained from Federal College of Education, Yola, Adamawa State in 1990, B.Ed. degree in Adult Education/Religious Studies from University of Calabar (1997), M.Ed. (2005) and Ph.D (2009) degrees in Environmental Adult Education from University of Port Harcourt. Since joining the University, she has been teaching, researching and contributing to the graduation of students in the University. She has successfully supervised and co-supervised many graduate students. She has served the Department and Faculty in various capacities including member, Faculty of Education ICT Management Committee (2014-2015), Departmental Coordinator CES Programme (2011-2013), Departmental Sandwich Coordinator (2008-2010), Student Academic Adviser UME Programme (2016-date), Member Faculty of Education Screening Committee of New Entrants, (CES, NUC and Sandwich) Programmes (2010-2016). She has attended many local and international seminars, workshops and conferences where she has made presentations. Dr Essien has published many articles in reputable local and international journals and book chapters. She is a member of the Nigerian Council for Adult Education, member, Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria, member, Reading Association of Nigeria and Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria. She is married with children.
