About Prof. Regina Idu Ejemot-Nwadiaro

Prof. Regina Idu Ejemot-Nwadiaro is a Professor in the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, University of Calabar. Prof. Ejemot-Nwadiaro holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Ibadan and Ph.D. from the University of Calabar. She has continuing professional training in Health Statistics (University of Liverpool), Research Synthesis, and Research Uptake and Science Communication (Stellenbosch University, South Africa). Prof. Ejemot-Nwadiaro is also a Senior Research Fellow with the Calabar Institute for Tropical Diseases Research and Prevention. She served as Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Rural Development and Family Science, Debub University, Awassa, Ethiopia under the Federal Government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Technical Aid Corps program (2002 - 2004) participating actively as a Volunteer Nutritionist at the Feeding/Rehabilitation Center in Leku, Ethiopia. She also served as Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Public Health, NGOs, and Special Projects (2009 -2015). Dr. Ejemot-Nwadiaro has teaching and research experience spanning over 20 years with her research interests primarily focussed on infection-nutrition nexus (malaria, pneumonia, tuberculosis, diarrhea, and HIV/AIDS) in low/middle-income country settings, vulnerability assessment studies, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) and promotion of evidence-based healthcare practice and policy. Prof. Ejemot-Nwadiaro has authored and co-authored over 50 research articles, books, and technical reports. Prof. Ejemot-Nwadiaro is a recipient of several awards, grants, and scholarships notably, University Scholarship for B.Sc. degree by Cross River State Government, UNICAL Senate Research Grant for Ph.D. dissertation, UNICEF Field ‘A’ Office for HIV/AIDS prevention, World Pneumonia Day 2012 Small Grant from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and International Vaccines Access Center and Small Grants Program (SGP) from Coalition for Operational Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases (COR-NTD) and African Research Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases (ARNTD) with funding support from USAID for Onchocerciasis Control in Cross River State; 2017. Prof. Ejemot-Nwadiaro is currently the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and member of many professional associations including; Public Health Association of Nigeria, American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), The Cochrane Collaboration, African Research Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases (ARNTD) and Nutrition Society of Nigeria. She is happily married and blessed with children.
