About Dr. Ogbonna Colllins Nwabuko

Dr. Ogbonna Collins Nwabuko (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7968-8041; Web of Science Research ID: L-9086-2015) is a Chief Consultant Hematologist (MD) and Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) with over twelve years of experience. His core areas of interest include palliative care hematology, hemato-Oncology, sickle cell disease, infectious disease of hematologic importance and Public health. He obtained his first degree (MBBS) in 1999 from the University of Benin, Edo state, Nigeria. Thereafter, he proceeded for his residency training in Hematology. He is a post-doctoral fellow of the national postgraduate medical college of Nigeria, faculty of pathology (FMCPath - Hematology) with memberships in the Nigerian Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, College of Nigerian Pathologists, American College of Physicians, American Society of Hematology, American Public Health Association, African Palliative Care Association and Hospice Palliative Care Association of Nigeria. He holds Masters of Science in Public Health from the University of South Wales, United Kingdom and possesses specialty training in Palliative Medicine from Hospice Africa, Uganda. Currently, he is a PhD researcher on Epidemiology of hematological diseases at Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Dr. Nwabuko Ogbonna Collins is a public health hematologist. He is a conferred member of Walden University chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi with leadership certificate of honors. As an international member of American Public Health Association, he is a reviewer of annual scientific conference abstracts on public health. He is a peer reviewer for several scientific journal organizations including the Lancet Hematology (TLH). He has reviewed over 60 scientific manuscripts including annual conference abstracts for the American Public Health Association. His special professional interest groups (SPIGs) are International health, epidemiology and cancer prevention. He is also a mentor and supervisor of postgraduate students in hematology, public health and other specialties in medicine. As a scientific researcher, Dr. Nwabuko is the principal investigator of research projects with the acronyms: ‘’BM2 NGA (Burden of Multiple Myeloma in Niger Delta Nigeria) and BSCD NGA (Burden of sickle cell disease in Nigeria).’’ He has made significant contributions in the field of medicine with over seventy-five highly citable publications in national and international journals. Some of these publications are in Research Gate, Google scholar, Publon, Pub Med, Scopus and LinkedIn. He authored chapter nine (Management of Multiple myeloma in developing countries) in a book titled ‘‘Update in Multiple Myeloma’’, and chapter four (Hepatic-related hematologic disorders in children) in ‘‘Chronic Disease and Disability-the Pediatric Liver’’ textbook. He also authored the electronic book (Sage Research Methods Cases) titled ‘‘An epidemiological investigation of the challenges of effective palliative care of multiple myeloma in a developing Country’’ published by SAGE Publication Limited https://dx.doi.org/10.4135/9781529741469. These books are indexed in the Web of Science. He is the founder of ‘’Firm foundation Healthy Living Center,’’ a private, not-for-profit organization with a strategic leadership approach of increasing the average life expectancy of the Nigerian populace using physical activities (gymnastics), health education, periodic screening tests, nutritional therapy, immunization and integrated health care services. This foundation has embarked on several free health programs in rural environments in Nigeria. Dr. Nwabuko is an erudite scholar, a teacher, trainer, supervisor, researcher, healthcare professional, mentor, policy-maker and strategic visionary leader. In addition, he is a son, husband, father, friend, doctor, writer and motivational speaker. He is married with four children and an Elder in his local church.
