About Mrs. Joy Joseph Obi

Mrs. Joy Joseph Obi started her career as a teacher with Cross River State Secondary and a class teacher. During this period, she was saddled with the responsibility of keeping the students’ statistics for various classes, and guiding them to make right choices/decisions. She joined the university of Calabar in 2016 where she is currently an assistant lecturer at the department of Science Education. Joy started her Education at the St Augustine Primary School Ukpah, Bekwarra Local Government Area where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1992. She got admitted into Holy Child Education Board (SEB) from 1998 to 2016 where for eight (8) years she worked as a class room teacher Secondary School, Mount Carmel, Igoli Ogoja where she spent three years for her Junior Secondary Education, thereafter, she moved to Federal Science College Ogoja where she obtained her Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) IN 1998. In 2006, she graduated from the University of Calabar where she bagged a B.Sc in Chemistry. Having great passion for education and teaching in particular, Joy switched to Education and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in 2009. With the education background, she went further and studied for master’s and obtained Masters Degree in Education (M.Ed) in 2015. She is currently studying for her Doctoral Degree (Ph.D) in the same department. In 2018, Joy was presented with an Award of Excellence by the Science Education Students’ Association, in recognition of her selfless contributions to the growth and development of Science Education and Students’ unionism at large. She received same award again in 2019. As a lecturer in the department of Science Education, Joy has taught different courses to both U.M.E, Direct Entry as well as Sandwich Students. She has given ‘Talks’ to Fresh Students of her department during their orientations. She has attended many National Conferences and presented research papers. She is a member of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN). As an academia, Joy has researched and published Scholarly articles in International Journals like the International Journal of Applied Research, and International Journal of Chemistry Education. Obi, Joy J. is a team player, courageous, hard working, dedicated to duty, a wife and a mother with a passion for helping others in whichever way she can. Above all, she is God fearing.
