The Bursar of the University of Calabar, Mrs Beatrice Igwe has called upon staff of the Bursary Department to pursue unity and work as a team.
Mrs Beatrice Igwe made the call at the first Solemn Assembly of the Bursary Department held at the New Senate Chamber of the Institution.
She said that unity is essential to progress in any living Institution and that for the department to achieve any rare feat; oneness must be desired and pursued to the point where it becomes a household name among Bursary Staff.
Mrs Igwe stated that every Staff was as relevant as the Bursar and therefore implored them to come up with creative ideas in order to move the department to a greater height shun poor work attitude and be dedicated.
She pledged that the Solemn Assembly will be a tradition in her administration; to always put God first in all the affairs of the department, adding that any leader who does not anchor on God is a failure.
In his remark at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Zana Akpagu thanked staff of the Bursary Department for turning enmasse at the event and also used the occasion to congratulate the Bursar for distinguishing herself at the interview which has brought her to limelight.
The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Director of Audit, Mr Nicholas Agbor said he was delighted to witness the first Solemn Assembly after so many years, expressing the optimism that it will herald a new beginning in the Department and also used the opportunity to advise Staff not to forget God in all their endeavours.
He said that Staff welfare was his priority,
assuring that all outstanding claims of Staff will be cleared, but charged them
to be dutiful, obedient, loyal and focused.
