The proactive approach to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the University of Calabar has receives a major boost as the Management of Dozie Oil and Gas Limited has lend her support by presenting a cheque of 2 million naira to the University Management.

Speaking shortly after presenting the cheque to the Vice Chancellor in her office, the Chairman, Dozie Group of Companies, Dr. Chukwudozie Daniel said the fight against the pandemic is a collective one hence the need to collaborate in order to stem the tide of the menace.

Dr. Chukwudozie who was represented by the Head of Human Resource of the Company, Mr. Ernest Anari also said he considers himself as a stakeholder in the institution hence his concern over what happens therein.

While commending the Vice Chancellor’s proactive disposition, he said due to the peculiar nature of the Institution, especially the large number of students coming from other epicenter of the virus, there was need to be even more proactive.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi thanked the Chairman and Management of Dozie Group for the kind gesture, adding that, it will go a long way in complimenting the Institution’s ongoing efforts at checkmating any possible outbreak of the pandemic.

Prof. Obi stated that the Chairman of Dozie Group has always been at the forefront in support of the University even as she mentioned with appreciation his role in the erection of the Faculty of Engineering main block.

Describing the benefactor as “a great friend” of the Institution, the University Administrator said Sir Chukwudozie has always made his resources available for the Institution and ready to assist whenever the need arises; adding that, his donation at this time is invaluable.
