The University of Calabar started academic work in three Faculties in October 1976. The Faculties were those of Arts, Science and Social Science. In the Faculty of Arts, students were inherited from the University of Nigeria, Calabar Campus, in the Departments of History, English and Literary Studies. |
The basis of both mission and vision seemed to be an intense desire to define and entrench a philosophy of education, not only in line with the overall philosophy of education, but also in line with the avowed objectives of the University of Calabar, as particularized in the motto of the University "Knowledge for Service". |
