Dr. AGBA, A. OGABOH

Senior Lecturer

Agba A. Ogaboh is a Doctor of Industrial Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Calabar, Calabar. He holds a B.Sc from the University of Abuja (1998), M.Sc. (2003), PGDE (2004) and PhD (2008) from the University of Calabar. He joined the service of the University of Calabar on the 15th of July, 2008 as Lecturer II.  He is also a consultant, educational expert, researcher and social analyst. He has wealth of experience in industrial, social and economic development and a special interest in poverty alleviation, development trend, environment and health issues. He was an active member of research team on Federal Government/World Bank Assisted Project on Science, Technology and Education (STEP-B) and the University of Calabar Centre of Excellence on Education and Infectious Diseases; Baseline and Gender Needs Assessment on Maternal, Child and Newborn Health in Cross River State, sponsored by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He was Education and Social Service Consultant with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). He, in collaboration with other team members has attracted a number of grants including - TetFund Research Grant 2014-2015 on Working Tools and Institutional Performance: A Study of Security Outfits in Niger Delta Region of Nigeria; TetFund Research Grant 2015-2016 on Ideo-religious extremism, proliferation of small arms, porous of arms and insecurity in North-East Nigeria. He is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN), Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Teachers. He is also member of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Development Studies Association (DSA), Member Development Research Uptake in Sub-Saharan Africa (DRUSSA), and Member of Exclusive Emerald Literati Network, UK. He is at present the Post Graduate Coordinator of the Department of Sociology, University of Calabar. He has successfully supervised 3 PhDs and 8 M.Scs.
