Dr. Sidney Kelechi Oparah

Senior Lecturer
Internal Medicine

Dr. Sidney K. Oparah holds an MBBS degree and a postgraduate medical (FMCP) degree. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria, and in a Clinical advisory capacity to Shalina Healthcare pharmaceuticals (Ghana). He doubles as an Honorary Consultant Physician/ Neurologist with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital. He was the Acting head of Internal Medicine department (2014 – 2016), Examination Officer (2012 – 2014), served as Faculty representative to other faculties (2010 – 2014) and in various faculty,college and hospital committees, and as an External Examiner totheEbonyi State University College of Health Sciences. Dr. Sidney Oparah has received various awards including; the 2011 “Most Outstanding Lecturer (Clinicals)” and the 2013 “Best Lecturer (Clinical)”, by the Calabar University Medical Students’ Association (CUMSA). He is a member of the African Academy of Neurology (AFAN), American Academy of Neurology (AAN), International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), World Federation of Neurology (WFN)and the Nigerian Medical Association; in addition to other academic and professional societies. His areas of interests include; Clinical neurology, Women`s health, Tropical medicine and Medical education.
