Dr. Martin Afen Olofu

Dr Olofu Martin is a versatile scholar. He holds a Ph.D in Curriculum Studies/Elementary Education from University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria, M.Ed. Curriculum Studies from University of Jos, Nigeria, a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Education and bachelor degree in Elementary Education both from University of Calabar, Nigeria. .He is also a product of the Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State, Nigeria where he obtained Nigerian Certificate in Education in Agric Science Education. He is an astute educationist with skillful experience in teaching, research and community service in the university for the past 20 years. He is a senior Lecturer, teaching undergraduate and post graduate courses in the Dept. of Curriculum & Teaching, Faculty of Education, University of Calabar, Nigeria.He has successfully supervised over 35 undergraduate, 5 M. Ed research works and is currently supervising and co-supervising 3 Ph.D and 3 masters research works in addition to personal research in the areas of childhood Education, Curriculum & Instruction and Environmental Education. He has published 23 scholarly articles in both local and international reputable journals, 6 book chapters and a textbook on curriculum development process. He is member Curriculum Organisation of Nigeria (CON), Reading Association of Nigeria and World Council for Curriculum & Instruction (WCCI). He has attended 18 local and international conferences where he presented papers with interest in quality assurance in childhood education, peace education, curriculum evaluation, pedagogical ICT apparatus for improving teaching and learning, capacity building, etc. He is a beneficiary of institutional scholarship/sponsorship for M.Ed & Ph.D programme and TETFUND conference attendance.Dr Olofu has and is performing different responsibilities within and outside the university such as Head of Department, External moderator, Examination officer, Academic Adviser and member of different committees (curriculum review, university ranking and visibility, welfare, ICT, etc.). He has served as a resource person in teacher capacity building to primary and secondary schools and government education agencies. He is a nominee and recipient of over 12 awards of honour and a fellow of Institute for Human and Natural Resources including 2017 integrity and professionalism award by Institute for Human and Natural Resources, 2016 Award of selfless service and commitment by Nigerian Universities Education students Association (NUESA) University of Calabar Chapter, 2017 Good shepherd award by Risen Lord prayer group, St Mary Pro Cathedral, Catholic Archdiocese of Calabar and 2010 Award of honours by United Nations-POLAC, Nigeria. His major goal is to add value to individuals, organisations and the society through professional efficiency, effectiveness and good work ethics according to international best practice with a view to build a better society. He is married with children.
