Mrs. Umo Fehintola Etim

Assistant Lecturer
Pure and Applied Chemistry

Mrs Fehintola Umo is an Assistant Lecturer in the department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, University of Calabar. She was employed in October 2013 few months after she obtained her Master degree in Organic Chemistry from the same University. She is currently undergoing her Ph.D in Food chemistry. She obtained her B.Sc degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin. She is involved in teaching courses in Organic Chemistry and partly under Applied Chemistry Programme. Her area of research is focused on effects of different processing methods on foods, Heavy Metals and polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in food samples, formulation of drinks and weaning foods from indigenous ingredients and evaluation of Bioactive compounds. Fehintola Umo is a licentiate member, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), a full member, Organisation for women in Science for the developing World (OWSD) and member, Nigerian Institute of managemenet (NIM).
