Mr. Akaninyene Arnold Sunday

Synopsis

Mr. Akaninyene Arnold Sunday was born in Eti-Osa LGA of Lagos State in November 19, 1983. He holds a FSLC from Awoyaya Primary School in Victoria Island Lagos, 1995, a WASC from Victoria Island Secondary School in Victoria Island Lagos, 2001, a diploma (Distinction) in Human Kinetics and Health Education from University of Ibadan, 2007, a Bachelors’ degree (Honours) in Human Kinetics from University of Ibadan, 2011, and a Masters’ degree in Exercise Physiology from University of Calabar, 2017. His master's thesis was titled, ‘Plyometric training and leg motor fitness of male undergraduate student of Masaryk University (Czech Republic) and University of Calabar (Nigeria)’. He has also updated his skills through programmes organized by Nigeria Association of Sports Science and Medicine (NASSM), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and European College of Sports Science (ECSS). He exhibited innovation, industriousness, diligence and was able to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision. His commitment to excellence earned him an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in Masaryk University (MU), Czech Republic, where he spent 10 months as a masters’ student in the Faculty of Sports Studies. At MU, he was also able to commence the first part of his masters’ research which was supervised by Dr. Jan Cacek. Mr. Sunday’s zeal for academic excellence and scholarship in the university community drove him to volunteer his time to serve as the Deputy-Country Coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus KITE II scholarship program from 2015 till date. In this position, he advises students before and during their scholarship and make recommendations to consortium. Mr. Sunday is also the Legal Entity Appointed Representative (LEAR) of University of Calabar to European Commission whose primary role is providing the commission with an up-to-date legal and financial data and maintenance, and entering and updating on the commission’s website the names of any colleague authorized act as legal representatives and signatories. Within the University of Calabar, he serves as secretary to the Faculty ICT Management Committee and Faculty Exchange and Linkages Committee whose primary roles are to develop proposal for functional ICT programmes for staff and students and to project the image of the faculty through ICT. And develop proposals that will attract the interest of other academic institutions for collaboration respectively.
