PROFILE OF THE CENTRE FOR EDUCATIONAL SERVICES (CES)
OVERVIEW
The Centre for Educational Services (CES) was carved out of the then Unical Consultancy Services (UNICALCONS) in 1998 with the mandate to run and coordinate all Non-NUC Educational programmes of the University of Calabar. It is primarily an Academic Internal revenue generating venture operated by the University.
CES MISSION STATEMENT
The Centre for Educational Services was established by Senate of the University with the twin mandate of
- Providing Community service to the immediate catchment area of the University and beyond through Educational Consultancy Service (On-Campus, Non-NUC Certificate, Diploma and Degree Programmes, off-campus Continuing Education i.e (Extra-mural studies programme, dissemination of knowledge through workshops, seminars and conferences).
- Generating revenue for the University through efficient discharge of the aforementioned functions.
The raison d’etre of the CES, lies in its ability to make its impact felt by the University Community and its catchment areas.
3.0 ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES OF THE CENTRE
The Centre presently runs nine (9) Diploma programmes and fourteen (14) part-time programmes, a Pre-degree, Certificate and Sandwich programmes. A break-down of the programmes are as follows:

4.0 ADMINSTRATION OF THE CENTRE
The centre has a Director, an Accountant, an Administrative Secretary and a Chief Internal Auditor. However, it operates through a Board Chaired by the Vice Chancellor and some other members. The academic Programmes of the centre are located in various Faculties and Institutes. There is a subsisting ASUU-UNICAL MANAGEMENT agreement which regulates the payment of honoraria to participating academic staff and other benefits accruable to departments running the programmes.
